I posted about this just ahead of you, and have to say that I admire McCain for finally standing up to the lunatics that are supporting him. It is disappointing that he has let it go this far (though I am pretty sire that it is his advisers that are pulling him in this direction...many are tied to Nixon and we all remember the Southern Strategy he employed). What is sickening is the idiot Republicans who are trying to spin this around on Obama, as if he is an evil man for being concerned about his life. Oh yes, questioning this angry mob mentality that has threatened the life of a presidential candidate is an attack on honest/hardworking Americans. Well, you can take that America and its small town values and shove it.

Yes, I am afraid that even if he wins this battle, he will lose the war, and come to an untimely end. It surely has happened before. There is just too much bigotry and hatred.

Way too much. It is ironic how we were just talking about how Obama's candidacy was such a great achievement...the country has evolved. And we have...yet, it is hard to take pride in that when there are so many people that are so clearly filled with hate and prejudice.

I fear that as well, sloop. I also fear the fact that the task that Obama is inheriting is overwhelming. There may not be real solutions to some of the problems that this country is facing, and I think it will all fall on his shoulders as if he is to blame for the catastrophic mess that we are in.
