hate speech against muslims in PBH

In the rules of PBH there is:

"Don't post sexist or hate speech or content that is derogatory against certain groups of people. This doesn't mean you can't discuss things, just don't post things that are overly generalizing and hateful or sexist.

Actions:

* We will delete the content.
* For repeate offenders, we may delete their account."

Why are the posts and comments of people like tasco66 and LDW not deleted?

Mongo, do'nt you know there are French muslims (5,000,000) and US American muslims (7,000,000) ?

They are french and american citizens.

Your statement, as those of billyb, gringoloid, ujay, LDW, show well that some US (and Canadian) people cannot imagine there is another religion that their, from the same manner they cannot imagine that there are other ways of life and that the whole earth is not adoring the god dollar.

I'll have to agree with pobrecito .
Without defending anybody or being pro-anything or anti-anything, Peter's rules are crystal-clear.

Tasco's year and a half-old video about the disturbances in a Malmö suburb in Sweden did happen. They were mainly intitiated by schoolkids and consisted of a series of dumpster fires and stone throwing. It's been calm after that.

The video is making a mountain out of a molehill. The title is extremely misleading, neocon propaganda. Sweden more dangerous than Colombia, it's totally ludicrous and does not merit an answer.

Gringoloid, in theory we should go through every thread and remove all sexist, racist, hateful words from every post. Now, who's to decide which word is offensive and which is not? What's the criteria? This is not quantum physics neither is there a mathematical formula for it. The only thing we have to go on is our own individual perceptions of what is offensive and what is not. Being from different countries and different cultures the range is wide. Say for example, I'm from Finland, in my culture nudity is no biggie. What we consider normal nudity and perfectly kosher would draw a lawsuit in USA. Another example: name-calling, mudslinging and ad hominem may be the run-of-the-mill language usage in New York, totally inadmissible in my culture. I tend to take the middle road; taking into consideration the sensivities of different cultural user groups without removing all the fun and good bantering and kidding from the forum.

If you have a better way of handling the cultural differences then let's hear it.
Otherwise please (this is a REQUEST) stop whining about the moderation and anti-american bias here. You have to start understanding that for some people "America" is not the center of the universe. There's also such thing as America-indifference.

I'll be happy to make my contribution to stop whining, when you request that pobrecito stop whining about muslims. That's what this thread is about-his whining.

tasco66 and LDW, from what I've seen, comment about muslim extremism, muslim terrorists, and the Koran, which is quite a bit different than "muslims" in general.
Its the same as commenting on farc, Chavez, or the bible, which are commented on here with frequency and nobody is calling that "hate" speech. In fact, tasco66 and LDW usually make their points concisely and factually, unlike pobrecito who seems to like to antagonize people by calling them "racist" all the time. He called me racist, and I really don't appreciate it since, in fact, he knows nothing at all about me!

Desi1, I think you do a good job here, and I know its not an easy one. But I don't feel like supporting pobrecito in this manner is going to help anything.

LDW is another matter, altogether. I don't agree with your assessment of the contents of his posts: I believe they are extremely inflammatory when he's writing about islam. There can be no other purpose posting the things he does than make people reject and hate that faith. Thus it does qualify for hate speech against a certain religion and group and cannot be allowed. There is no centre of the universe! According to the standard theories of cosmology, the universe started with a "Big Bang" about 14 billion years ago and has been expanding ever since. Yet there is no centre to the expansion. It is the same everywhere. The Big Bang should not be visualised as an ordinary explosion. The universe is not expanding out from a centre into space. The whole universe itself is expanding and it is doing so equally at all places, as far as we can tell.

I think that's a fair answer Desi, and I appreciate it. Like I said, your job is not easy.

I've been thinking about it and I can see where Desi is coming from. She makes her decisions and some of us may not always agree, but at least she backs them up in a clear and logical manner. No matter what she does, someone will always see it as unfair. Its not going to do any good to hound her about it. In fact, it could just offend her more. For myself, at least, I'm just going to ignore pobrecito's comments from now on, and try to get with the program. After all, its not my website!

gringoloid, she has answered my criticisms in what I feel is a "clear and logical manner." I can understand if you disagree. She has not antagonized or been mean to me in her responses, and I appreciate that. I don't see what the point is in 5 people ganging up on her. I don't think she's been 100% fair, but I don't think its possible to be 100% fair. There's always someone who will come crying to you with "racism" or whatever. In my case, I can just block those people.

Also, I railed about her when my "Palestinian Jokes" post was taken down. The post was put back up, so someone's not asleep at the helm. You are right, I am new and don't know who the mods are or which ones are "good" or not. I just know that I like the way she took the time to answer me and explain things to me. For example: "Pobrecito has a very irritating habit of getting personal with other posters.I don't support that at all."

I don't very often agree with Lacique, for example, but I appreciate his intellect and his debating abilities. So I hope it can be the same with others here. If they show me respect, I'll show them respect......others, I'll block.

One more thing, I don't do ALL the deleting and refurnishing here. All our mods have been quite active lately. (For example, I didn't delete your Palestinian jokes thread).

Gringoloid, I just feel there's no point continuing this discussion. We both have better things to do, I sure. We're four mods, including Peter, who is European and lives here. Tinto is as American as an apple pie. Kat is 100% costeñita. I'm European. So it's 50/50 between Europe and America. There's no bias, no anti-americansim, no conspiracy here. (If I were anti-American all that BS tasco666 is posting would go down the drain as soon as I'm up in the morning. Just an example)

Do not contribute to troll posts, unless you weant to be part of every deleted thread (some people like that). It's not only "Dragon Desi" who sends Medo packing every morning, it's whoever of us that dtects his presence first. This is nothing personal between the troll and me.

That was one.
This is the second one:
Pobrecito, you don't take personal messages, so I have to say this in public: You back off now. Stop attacking and name-calling other posters. Discuss the article, the post, the message, not the poster, the writer, the message carrier. This ad hominem will have to stop.

Other posters who engage in these verbal battles with him: ad homs are not allowed and name calling, making remarks on somebody's IQ etc is not allowed from ANYBODY.
FLAG THE OFFENSIVE COMMENTS AND WE'LL TAKE CARE OF THEM. Not shouting, using upper case for emphasis :)

Yes, Desi but I feel like in a dream. It is not possible for me to discuss racist posts. In my country, there are laws that protect all races and such statements would lead PBH to prosecution for having not deleted them.

I suppose that in your country it is the same thing.

It is not possible that a racist can admit his errors. You want that I give them a legitimity?
