What model/brand modem will work with ETB ADSL service?

I called la ETB today to find out about the ADSL service they offer. They told me I would have to "buy" one of their modems that works with there system.

It sounded like a sales pitch. Is that true?

I have a6-7 modem sitting around here and if any of them worked I would like to use it.

What brand model, standard, does the ETB use for ADSL service.

thanks

ADSL router modem
It could be a comercial thing but you are better off by getting one of their router modems, ETB uses diferent brands, some ethernet, some usb, among them,

Greatspeed GSR-250S
Marconi X7721r/X7721rX
Aethra

ETB have used also cisco.

It doesn´t mean other brands would not work but ETB will assure better service with their homologe devices.

It would be easier to let us know what brand are your DSL modems

And what about CableNet (TVCable) ?
I think CableNet (TVCable) could be a better option for a broadband connection in Bogotá.

You can have 150kpbps + cable Tv for $100.000 pesos per month. You don't have to pay any install feeds nor buy a cablemodem, but the minimum contract length is 1 year (I think it's the same for ETB).

You can find more info in their website http://www.cable.net.co/

Thanks WEBMANCO - ETB said samething as far as them guaranteeing service quality, looks like i'll have to get a new one.

Cavorite - Called Cable Net (TV-Cable), they require one year contract. Although they were vague as to what the penalty might be for early termination.

Best deal for TV/Internet might be ETB/DirectTV offer on now.

Ask for an ethernet modem No matter what plan you take and what company, make sure to ask for an ethernet modem even if you think you will be using it only for one computer.

With new tecnologies emerging it is wise to get an ethernet modem since it would be easier for networking latter on. If you ask for the plan Internet Extremo for residencial use, they will try to give you a Marconi usb modem, if you ask for an ethernet modem instead they would charge you 100 mil extra.

Some times if you let them know if you don´t get the ethernet modem you will go with another company.

You could add to the plan Internet, directv, unlimited local calls.
