Two terms is enough, President Uribe

Published: August 22, 2008

Colombia's president, Ã?lvaro Uribe, should tell his friends that he does not want a third term. Last week, his backers delivered 5 million signatures to election authorities calling for a referendum to modify the constitution so Uribe can run yet again. Colombia has already changed its constitution once so Uribe could be re-elected in 2006.

I concede, I make no rational justification for my own opinion.
I'm just like all those colombians... seems like it's been a good thing so far, so why not four more years.

I know Desi, I still don't know enough to have an opinion, and probably never will.

However, that country must solve their own problems as I doubt that we (me) will ever be ever be a part of it.

As much as I like many of the things Uribe has accomplished, I'd rather see the constitution left unchanged. Colombia must stand collectively, not on the shoulders of one man.

You have a point Tom-Latin Americans in particular are only too ready to let someone else do the work.

Uribe has worked hard-but is there someone else as capable and strong willed who can do the job that needs be done?
