Some stats over the years

Hey all,
in this series of posts about the history of this ol' site, I figured I do a "stats" post, as I have done now and then over the years.

I started this site in 1998, when I was living in Colombia. I wrote some articles about life in Colomgia, and posted some pictures on it. I always kept it going, adding some articles, changing the design, playing around with the code. I remember at first, when I would be amazed that we had a few visitors (literally like 3), from all over the world. The site slowly started to grow.

Somewhere in 2000, I added a discussion forum to the site. In August 2000, we had about 1,000 pageviews a day and the friendly talkzone was starting to take off. First the friendly talkzone was running my own, handwritten software, then a few years later I moved it to Drupal, and a few years later again back to my own software.

I don't have much stats after that, but in 2004 we were getting about 9,000 pageviews a day. I installed Google analytics in 2007, so since then I do have some numbers. In early 2007 we were having about 15,000 pageviews a day, these days (october 2008) it's more like 20,000. Slow and steady growth, all the way.

Those are some stats, the Wayback machine has archives of the site all the way to 2000 (when the design was still pretty similar to the original design): http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia

The 1998 page had a similar title bar, but I don't think you had to scroll down, everything was listed in columns, sort of like the sitemap page on the 2000 page... - mostly the living-in-Colombia stuff.

Buongone, I did not want to say anything either. I just let it go. He always spells Colombia wrong, I think it is quite embarrassing, but who am I. It just might be a place we just never heard of? Lets hope so!!!!
