Might be more to this than what she is telling you...maybe another poster will know about this..in regards to Colombian cell companies? (I take it that is where you are calling?) I am not familiar with this information at all...can only say if it becomes an erratic trend (her not answering) I wish you the very best ;))

There was an email going around here telling people to boycott cellphone companies but it was nothing but a troll rumor. They don´t charge for missed calls.

I think it depends on your cell plan. Some do charge for incoming...

Las compañías Comcel, Movistar, Tigo, quien sabe si obligados por el Gobierno o por su propio interés, han decidido que las llamadas perdidas sean cobradas a un costo mayor que una llamada de un minuto. Y todos nos preguntamos, ¿a qué viene esto? ¿Hacían daño acaso las llamadas perdidas? si igualmente nos robaban el dinero de las tarjetas de prepago ahora nos dicen: ¡MANOS ARRIBA ESTO ES UN ATRACO! y sin ningún reparo además.
Se acabó eso de revisar tu celular y encontrarte esas llamadas perdidas de amigos, compañeros de trabajo y familiares mientras dormíamos. Y es que ahora saldrá más rentable mandar un correo que hacer una llamada por celular. Y es que esto es una injusticia, dentro de poco pagaremos por mensajes al celular no leídos o no enviados o por el solo hecho de oprimir una tecla de nuestro teléfono.
El motivo? cuando se realiza una llamada perdida estás utilizando las redes de comunicación de la empresa, por lo tanto sus servicios y por ello tienen derecho a cobrarlas.
Por exigir nuestros derechos, porque el cliente siempre tiene la razón y por que esto no vuelva a pasar, proponemos una huelga de teléfonos celulares. Que se den cuenta de que si esto sigue así, nosotros somos los que mandamos.
Pon tu granito de arena y lo conseguiremos. LAS EMPRESAS DE TELEFONIA CELULAR NOS ESTAN ROBANDO, URGENTE....!!POR FAVOR PRESTE ATENCIÓN ENLA EXPLICACIÓN AL FINAL PARA REENVIAR ESTE MAIL
En USA una compañía de celulares ofrece a sus clientes 2,000 (SI, DOS MIL, LEYERON BIEN) minutos libres por solo US $75.00 Dolares ¿¿¿Quién Gasta 2,000 minutos en un mes en Colombia??? Usuarios comunes, seguro que no. Si alguien lo gasta seguro abonará una factura de alrededor de 250.000, oo pesos o mas, lo cual es muy superior a los US $75.00 (Dólares) que se pagan en los USA. ¿¿¿CÓMO LLEGARON LOS NORTEAMERICANOS A ESTE BENEFICIO??? Mediante la UNIDAD. Si, la unidad de la comunidad; ni haciendo huelgas, ni rompiendo ni quemando nada. Solo de una manera: NO USANDO EL TELÉFONO durante 5 días escalonados, hoy si, mañana no y así sucesivamente, las empresas se vieron obligadas a BAJAR LAS TARIFAS O QUEBRAR. NOS PONEMOS LAS PILAS LOS USUARIOS PARA DEFENDERNOS.... Un paro de los usuarios no les hará quebrar, pero si las obligará a pensar en bajar de precio los servicios que prestan.
LA PROPUESTA: Envíe este e-mail a todos aquellos que conozca para que los días 24 Y 25 DE MAYO todos tengamos el celular apagado. ES LA ÚNICA FORMA EN QUE PODREMOS EXPLICARLES A: COMCEL, MOVISTAR y TIGO. QUE NO SOMOS IGNORANTES NI VAMOS A SEGUIR PERMITIÉNDOLES QUE NOS METAN LA MANO EN EL BOLSILLO. ENTRE TODOS LOS OBLIGAREMOS A QUE BAJEN POR LO MENOS UN 50% LAS TARIFAS, Y MEJOREN EL SERVICIO.
SI NO NOS DEFENDEMOS NOSOTROS, NADIE M�S LO VA A HACER. Solo si TODOS COLABORAMOS en NO UTILIZAR el TELÉFONO CELULAR ESTOS DIAS lograremos demostrarles a esas empresas que los COLOMBIANOS no somos ignorantes.
Datos: En 1999 en Argentina los ciudadanos obligaron a TELECOM y MOVISTAR a poner una tarifa reducida a INTERNET por medio de DESCOLGAR los teléfonos durante 15 minutos. En USA actualmente lograron que las compañías proveedoras de Internet absorban el costo de la llamada, como comunicarse a un 0800 en vez de a un 0610. ¿¿¿Por qué no ahora, nosotros lo intentamos con los servicios de celulares???? APAGUEN SUS CELULARES EL MAYOR TIEMPO POSIBLE LOS DIAS SABADO 24 Y DOMINGO 25 DE MAYO DEL 2008 Y si lo necesitan por negocios eviten las llamadas que puedan.
Por todos estos motivos, usuarios y clientes convocamos a un paro nacional por 48 horas. Porque somos los que mantenemos el sistema, apagamos los Teléfonos celulares dos días: Les pedimos que apaguen sólo por esos días sus teléfonos celulares; que de esta forma las empresas entren en razón y bajen el costo del servicio e incluso lo mejoren.
También les pedimos que corran la voz por todo el país, porque es la única forma de defendernos, ya que los organismos (Procuraduría del Consumidor) encargados de regular la actividad, no hacen nada, y de esta manera defienden los intereses de las Compañías. La propuesta es bien sencilla: NO ENCENDER el CELULAR dos días y pronto todos estaremos agradecidos.
HAGAMOSLO, ES EN SERIO COOPEREN POR FAVOR APAGUEN SU CELULAR: SABADO 24 Y DOMINGO 25 DE MAYO DEL 2008: CON 50 MIL PERSONAS EN EL PAIS QUE LO APAGUEN SERA SUFICIENTE. PERO HAGAMOS LA META DE QUE SEAN MAS, MANDENLOOOOO POR FAVOOOOOOR.

I also got that e-mail. Assuming it is true, even if people turn off their cell phones these companies will not change their policies just because a bunch of customers turned their cell phones off. They're just like banks, they work with each other against the customer, not the other way around.
