According to this post from a while back, Jon apparently got the student visa paperwork (and subsequently the visa), without paying a dime. Is this indeed possible? I have considered taking classes at a university in Medellin, but am nervous they are going to make me pay up front, and it will be hard to back out at that point without it being real akward. Does anyone know how the process works?

I have also heard of dubious services that will get you a visa for a couple hundred US, but i have no idea if these sorts of things are legit, and i wonder if I will get hassled with a lot of probing questions by the DAS lady?

Monita Linda says on Aug 22, 2008, 12:14: Just don't get your visa the illegal way - paying a lot and have someone bribed at the DAS (or however they do it) and you getting a visa. They are trying to crack down on those "tipos" and if you have such a visa they will deport you and you can't come back. Better get your visa the legal way, it's cheaper and it's safe! (Not always easier, but well worth it). Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
