Hi:
I just got off the phone with my primo and his paisa wife in Toronto. They were telling me that her father said their is a charge for any incoming international phone call that is longer then 1 hour now... The charge is from the Colombian telephone company.
Does anybody know anything more about this ? Do I have to cut a phone call off at 58-59 minutes and then call back to save any sort of charges by the Colombian telephone company to the person receiving my phone call ?
He has some special chip or card in his phone to be able to receive international calls... I do not want anyone I am calling saddled with any charges from my call...
My cousin's father-in-law lives in Medellin..
Thanks for your input.
Jeff

My wife burns up the phone cards talking to Colombia 5 - 8 times per week and is a firm believer in using a 100 minute card to it's fullest extent on each call. Never has there been a surcharge on any call. orgullo_de_colombia 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

viewpoint says on May 31, 2005, 08:11: There is no surcharge on an incoming call of any duration. For certain types of local telephone service there used to be a "rate per pulse" added to the telephone bill for measured service telephone connections. This type of charge brought a revolt from dialup ISP internet users because each pulse from the computer through the phoneline was charged and the bills got astronomical (to the moon). EPM was forced to elimate this charge as it applied to ISP internet connections a few years ago by the regulator. I remember that they did this but adding one more digit ahead of the dialup number and that was exempted from the pulse charge.
