Hi I am not either backpacker, traveler nor trying to hook up with Colombianas (not yet), itis just that I've working my ass of for the last 2 years and now I feel I deserve some well spent vacations.
I do not know anybody in Colombia but reading some posts from PBH, so I guess thats what I am here in PBH .I think I would like to go to some small town in Colombia and get a taste of Colombia Culture. Maybe some small towns around Medellin or El eje cafetero , but I would prefer Cold over Hot and humid weather.
BTW I have 3 grand (including the Airfare) to spend on this Vacations, what would be a good use of them ? what city/town? should I travel by taxi while in Colombia or Bus only?

If you travel down to Cali, there is also a lot to do and see, and within these areas the travel time is not too taxing. You would even be able to make it down to Popayan, and it is gorgeous down that area of Colombia.

LORE says on Aug 27, 2008, 06:34: Definitely take two or three days for Cartagena; two days for Bogota. Travel between cities by bus. In the cities by taxi. Don't carry large amounts of cash; you'll get a better deal taking out the maximum amount in a ATM. Take a small dictionary if you don't speak spanish.

I recommend Pimsluer mp3 that are available on Audible.com. The people are very friendly and the culture is interesting if you know spanish, but there's not much to the country itself. The more spanish you know the better time you'll have.

dwmte7 says on Aug 28, 2008, 07:48: well said, bill.....good advise is to just get outta the cities, open your eyes, be kind to those colombians with whom you come in contact with and who, more often than not, will bend over backwards to be gracious and helpful. GOOD LORD, colombia is so much more than a party mecca, whore house and bar/club/casino destination. these are the absolute bottom of colombia's rich wonders. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
