hey, i've only heard a little bit about the feria de cali. thinking of going this december, but can't really find any good 2004-2005 feria de cali websites. also, can't seem to find any good explanations from anyone who has been there concerning what the fair is about. my south american footprint guidebook says that it's the biggest salsa fair in latin america. i've also heard that there are parades, parties, a beauty pageant, and lots of beautiful colombianas. would it be fun for a 24 year old gringo to go solo? is it kind of like carnival or is it more of a family, watch-from-the-sidewalk event...or is it neither? i'm looking for a party-like or carnival-like, crazy if you will, experience. is budget accommodation (such as hostels) available in cali during that time of the year? if you know anything about the feria de cali, please post. any feedback is greatly appreciated -- D.
