Getting to Managua

Hi all,
I am flying in to Bogota on Jan. 25 and a few days later I need to find a plane ticket to Managua because I need to go there to sell a house. I'll probably stay at the Platypus on Calle 16, but I've never been to Bogota or evern Columbia, so can you recommend a travel agent or airline? How much do tickets cost? Can you buy a one-way ticket?
When I come back, I might stop by Panama City for the hell of it. How do you prefer to get from there to Cartagena? Thanks in advance.

No problem ....... Hi Stevens. This is a hostel I believe in La Candelaria...an interesting part of Bogota. It's sort of in the central area. It's a very historical area. But be carefull of street crime. If people don't look good, then they you should stay away from them....just a warning.

Ok there is one huge travel agency that has offices all over the place. Here: http://www.aviatur.com.co/

Contact them. I am sure they will help you. If you want to go to Panama City on the way to Managua...it's easy. Only one airline had direct flight both to Panama and the from there to Managua. They are called Copa. http://www.copaair.com/

If you go to Aviatur, they can handle everything there. Or you can call Copa directly..Copa is a Pamamanian airline and they fly very modern planes. I have flown them a few problems.

One important thing. Don't do anything by phone. Go there..pick up your tickets, and pay for them at either Aviatur or at Copa. DONT go to the airport on the day you want to fly after being told a price on the phone. Prices have a way of going up, when you go to pay for them at the airport on the day you want to fly. Pay for them before hand get a reciept, and if not the ticket (if it's electronic) at least get an itenerary showing all the flights and that they have been paid for..

I hope this helps

Thanks, Gomezman. Sounds pretty easy as long as I manage to stay away from the bad-looking people. I'd better start working on my scowl.

I've been here for two and a half days and haven't even come close to scowling!
I really like this part of town.

Scowling in Candelaria That's great that you made it! Make sure you go to the El Gato Gris restaurant sometime. It's not far from the Platypus, just ask them there for directions. It's really worth it, especially if you climb all the way up to the roof.

I'm glad you've noticed that you don't have to scowl. I've spent many days wandering around that area with a camera and never had a problem, either.
