Foreigners Stuck in Colombia due to Judicial system

http://www.eltiempo.com/colombia/bogota/2008-09-18/24-parejas-extranje...

Here is a quick translation... for those who prefer to read it in Emglish...

24 foreign couples are stranded in Colombia for judicial strike

These are people who arrived in the country to advance the process of adoption and that now they can not do anything because the judges of the family joined the closure of the judicial branch.

This is the case of spouses and Elisabetta Zamo Pavani who arrived in Colombia 90 days ago, from Verona, Italy. In the first baggage brought toys for her two adopted children, who would for the first time.

When only lacked the appearance before a judge of the Family to obtain a court ruling that nominaría as adoptive parents, employees of the judicial branch entered cessation of activities

The same situation faced 23 other foreign couples who came from countries such as France, Germany, Spain and Italy with the aim of adopting Colombian children.

With the desire to take their children as soon as possible to Italy to begin the school stage, Zamo was last Sept. 15 at the Judicial Complex Paloquemao and asked the president of ASONAL, Fabio Hernandez, what could be done. "We can not do anything for his family, that the government does not want to negotiate our demands," he replied.

The costs of unemployment

The Pavani met all the requirements to adopt two Colombian brothers, 7 and 8 years, were abandoned by their parents, and declared as adoptable by a judge of the Family.

Elisabetta, marketer of sportswear, and her husband Zamo, an employee of an insurance company in Verona, had an immigration visa to stay in Colombia until tomorrow, September 19. Only yesterday were able to endorse two more months, with no chance of further renewals.

The stay in Colombia has represented costs that were not planned, because paying 160 pesos a day for renting an apartment in Chapinero, in addition to the normal charges for keeping the new family.

The problem is in addition or subtraction-the-money are no longer charged for their work in Italy.
