I was wondering if anyone had any more details on what is required for a company to get a certificado de proporcionalidad.
The certificado de proporcionalidad is required for people who are getting work visas in Colombia. I am in the process of looking for jobs and would like to know if anyone has more specific information on what an empresa needs to do to satisfy the satisfy the ratio between colombian nationals and extranjeros.
1. What is the percentage of employees who must be Colombian?
2. Does this apply to companies of all sizes? are smaller companies exempt? In the US, some rules only apply to companies larger than XX employees. My concern here is that if I work for a smaller company - say with 3 people - and i would be fourth I would be 25% of the company. If the ratio were that extranjeros could not exceed 10%, that would make it basically impossible to work at smaller companies.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might have information on this.

europeantraveler says on Aug 21, 2008, 10:24: Colombian law requires that 90% of a company's regular employees and 80% of executive and specialist employees must be Colombian citizens. Companies with 10 or less employees are exempt, but you still need to apply for a "Certificado de Proporcionalidad" in any case. See the "Código Sustantivo de Trabajo", Art. 74: http://www.dafp.gov.co/leyes/C_SUSTRA.HTM
