hotel The hotel that is literally closet to the American Embassy (I assume you want the American Embassy) is one called Hotel de la Feria www.hotelesestelar.com but the hotel Capital www.ghl.com.co and the Four Points Sheraton www.starwood.com are also very close.

Hotels Copied this from the PL board, Gary Bala post:

Possible choices:
Hotel Capital - Forte Travelodge (Suggested by U.S. Embassy)
Avenida Eldorado # 69A-51
Bogotá, D.C., Colombia
Tel.: (011-571) 412-4961, Toll Free: 9800-11199
Call for their currents rates for available rooms.

Hotel Embassy Suites Rosales (Suggested by U.S. Embassy)
Calle 70 # 6-22
Bogotá, D.C., Colombia
Tel.: (011-571) 317-1368
Call for their currents rates for available rooms.

Our suggestion for inexpensive and comfortable is:
Casa de Huéspedes Doña Flor THIS IS A HOSTAL NOT HOTEL.
(Two blocks from U.S. Embassy)
Senora Flor de Garcia, Gerente
Carrera 44C #22A-16
Barrio Quinta Paredes, Bogotá
Teléfono 011-57-1-269-8694 011-57-1-269-7436
Telefax: 011-57-1-269-3926 (About $35US per Night with Breakfast)
[This is a Bed & Breakfast style House or Hacienda with 7 rooms, which people
have said is homey & safe with an on-site owner 24/7 who has been kind
enough to sometimes even look over some visa applicants' papers.]

The question is... Why do you want to be near the embassy? It seems you've been glued to your TV and watched to many movies of Americans saved from evil forces when they finally reach the embassy gate opened by a sparkling marine. Hey... am I right? Chill out and enjoy your stay in Colombia... suspend your USA Today subscription, remove CNN from your TV and discover the REAL Colombia. Paranohia kills dude...
