By the way, what´s AOS.

"That is one bill I am not looking forward paying" Are there any bills that you look forward to paying?

AOS is Adjustment Of Status. It is the step where you get da green (pink) card.

PL- Actually, i don't mind paying bills that have equivalent value....Taking my wife through the visa process, it is apparent the government and other functionaries have their hands out, asking for money every step of the way...I kind of figure, by the time one gets to the point of "purchasing" the green card. the fees for processing the visa have been already paid..but since I love my wife a bunch, I will write that check, without hesitation..

One of the best pieces of advice i have gotten through this process came from this site from Gater, ---No need to hire an attorney---Best advise I have recieved, and probably one of the least valuable thing a guy could invest in, You end up paying a few grand for their legal assistant to fill out forms for you...If you have any proclivity for filling out detailed form, this really is a DIY process.

(Unless your wife has a criminal record, or other visa related transgressions, then you will probably need, not only an attorney, but also a psychiatrist).

VisaJourney.com has all the information you'll need for the whole visa process from petition to AOS and Removal of Conditions. I also haven't used an attorney for any part of the process and everything has gone smoothly. We will be applying for AOS sometime later this year.

I missed direct consular filing by three days. Arrrrg. So instead on a ten day wait I had a seven month wait. I still give my wife grief every once in a while.

Try an eleven month wait for an interview. We unfortunately got caught up in the fiasco that USCIS caused last year by raising prices without a plan for handling the flood of petitions they got as a result.

However, all that is in the past. Doña CG will be here tomorrow.

I feel your pain....living apart for 27 months was not fun and nearly wrecked our relationship.
