The IRA guys Did you hear that those three guys recently got sentenced to 17 years? They've been in Bogota on bail all this time, and were pretty confident they'd be going home. Before they were caught, everyone in my little town in Northern Ireland thought Colombia was in Africa or something, but now they sure know where it is!

santiBOG, I am not Irish, but I am Celtic and have passed along a Press Release from the Celtic League re: the three Irish lads. The Celtic Legue covers Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany as well as the Celtic regions of Spain & Argentina. They also cover some non-Celtic news, that being the Basque region.

From what I understand, the three were originally aquitted, but the US and Colombian governments pressured the appeals process and overturned the original aquittal, landing them with 17 years. The problem the Celtic League is having with this is that apparently no new evidence was introduced. They of course are not claiming the 3 are not guilty, just questioning the process.

I just wanted to clarify that if the men were from any other Northern Irish/Irish terrorist organisaiton such as the UVF or the UFF I would say exactly the same thing. They all have blood on their hands and they are murderers. They treat other human beings as dogs, taking away their lives when they have no right - what about their violations of human rights?

They are most certainly guilty - what else would they be doing in the old "zona de distencion"? There was a bomb in Bogota in a social club that killed many people, I don't remember the exact details, but that's what those men were there for - to train the FARC in urban terrorism - any Irish/Northern Irish terrorist's speciality.

This case is proof that terrorism is simply murder - there are no "ideals" - it is trying to gain power and wealth by brutally taking other human beings lives - a disgusting blackmail. May they rot in Colombian cells.
