Colombian Musc & Movies I agree with Desi and Platano. Listening to colombian music or watching a colombian movie may also help in getting familiared with the accent and the speed used when speaking spanish, as well as for learning some "colombian" slang. :)

RE: spanish classes Hi Terco,

If you are in Bogotá (Colombia), sure you can. The spanish conversation course I teach is charged per hour taken so you can get in an out depending on your timing.

The course itself is really short though, and can be arranged to last for about two weeks, according to your schedule.

Feel free to send me an email if you want additional info.

Claudis comments on Best Bars in Bogota

Safe Areas in Bogotá Hey angelbenzz

My suggestion, if youre visiting Bogotá is to stay in the northwest areas, in general you shouldnt go southeast, and if you do, make sure you go with colombian friends (they will know where to take you there). The most popular area, meaning lots of nice bars, restaurants is the 93 park. So, if you wanna party, try to remain close to that area.

Hope it helps! ;)

Some "music" bands for the tatoos! Great idea, but now Im talking about colombian music bands and singers! ;) I would suggest: Juanes, Shakira, Carlos Vives, Aterciopelados, Bacilos...for a starter.

SHORT SPANISH CONVERSATION COURSE Hey guys!

I think the best way to get fluent in spanish or in any other language is speaking it. Thats why I am teaching a short spanish conversation course in Colombia, for native english speakers living or visiting Bogotá.

The course will be personalized according to the specific student interests and needs.

You will be able to learn not only about the language but also about the culture.

There are also many other topics that we might cover such as colombian history, cooking, dancing and even legal issues.

By the end of the course you will have learn the basics to communicate effectively in social and business environments.

If you need additional information, you may reach me at: clauhochman at hotmail.com

Best regards to all!

Short Conversation Course in Bogotá (July 7th, 2005)

I will teach "colombian" spanish to native english speakers staying in Bogotá, in an informal practical course (which of course will cost much less than formal theoretical academy courses).

In small groups we will practice conversation and will learn about colombian slang, frecuently used sentences and words, basic spanish to "survive" in daily conversations (social and business related).

Each course will cover other topics of interest related to: living in Colombia: colombian lifestyle, traveling in Colombia, meeting colombians, learning about Colombia and its culture, security issues, tips to "survive" in the streets (safe and non safe areas), sports, etc.... depending on the particular interest of each group of students.

At the end of the course, students will know the basics to communicate effectively with native spanish speakers in social and business environments, not only in terms of the correct words to use, but the best ways to approach, according to the culture.

For more information please email me at: clauhochman at hotmail.com

Best reagards to all!

Want to learn "colombian" spanish? Hey guys!

I´m Claudia. I had a lot of fun reading your comments which helped me realize how creative and funny the "colombian slang" can be sometimes, as Peter says. :)

I lived in the US for a while and believe me, I would have loved to learn some english slang and also commmon words and sentences, I mean, basic "suvival" questions and answers, beforehand as well :) It could have probably help me met english speakers sooner and get involved with the culture much faster!

BTW, there´s one saying we have that, although I dont use frequently, I like a lot, it is " a calzón quitao". It means something like "honestly...", but the literal translation would be something around: "without your underware" :)

I hope you are all enjoying your visit so far! ;)
