Yes I lived in Arauco (a pueblo just off the beach; 2 hrs south of Concepcion) for 3 yrs with my folks. That was at the end of the Pinochet era or as I should say the beginning of Amnesty International's quest for the crimes he committed. It was quite a profound experience to witness the political upheaval in Santiago, to hear of loved ones gone missing, the celebrations of having him finally accountable, etc.

I've gone back twice since then and I'm hoping to do Colombia and Chile next year.
